Marvel Comic Books: Collecting Tips

Teenagers have ever been awakened by superheroes. Before the advent of broadcasting, movies, and the Internet; teenagers used to get major satisfaction from incredible stories about their favorite superheroes. Priceless comic books were more than equal to television stories. They portrayed the main outcries of their period, portraying the many monetary, political, and evildoing scenarios of the time. From the beginning, Marvel Comic books have stood at the helm of the creation of these exciting books. Marvel is still the biggest comic book publsher.

The history of Marvel dates back to October 1939, when Martin Goodman commissioned Lloyd Jacquet's business for publication of the first Marvel comic book. The book happened to be called Marvel Comics #1. Marvel sold over 80,000 copies of this first issue. With so much success in its experiment in comics, particularly the first superhero, Human Torch, Marvel brought out a second superhero in 1941: Captain America.

The Golden Age of Comic Books came to an end after World War II ended, and the superhero comic books' popularity dropped sharply. Reduced sales of comic books focusing on Wheezer, Captain America, Angel, and Miss America forced Marvel Comics to invent more humorous characters like Super Rabbit and Powerhouse Pepper.

However, the start of Vietnam War revived interest in comic superheroes. This forced Marvel into designing four new superheroes that teamed up as "The Fantastic Four" in the eponymous Marvel comic books. Marvel followed it up with other characters such as X-Men, Iron Man, Ant-Man, Hulk, and the immortalized Spider-Man. These characters are etched into the minds of generations of teenagers and continue to form the basis of several Hollywood blockbusters.

The authors of Marvel comic books have integrated important societal issues such as drug abuse into the plot lines of many of their comic books. As these Marvel comics transcend simple entertainment, many in the education profession have encouraged people to read them.

There is a huge market for old comic buns, sometimes even millions of dollars for a rare addition in meant condition. Your grandparents or even perhaps your parents may have a fortune in nostalgic collectibles from their childhood. The government recognized the popularity of these pop culture icons, when in 2007, when they issued a commemorative stamp featuring the comic book heroes.
