Don't Skimp on Comic Book Storage
When it comes to a valuable comic book collection, there are lots of different ways you can store it. Comic book storage comes in several forms.
The thing to keep in mind, first and foremost, is to store them in containers that were made specifically for this purpose. You want to preserve the paper. Any paper or cardboard storage products should be acid-free and lignin-free, and plastic storage devices should be PVC-free.
Additionally, make sure that your collection is stored out of direct light, in a climate controlled environment. Please don't put your comic books up in your attic or shed!
There are many different items available for storing comic books. Individual plastic sleeves or acid-free resealable bags are great for special comics, although very valuable specimens should be kept in plastic boxes designed for comic book storage. When using plastic sleeves or bags with adhesive, make sure that tape or adhesive doesn't touch the books themselves.
Plastic comic book boxes can be found at collectibles shops or storage and organization stores. As an alternative, you should be able to find Mylar comic book sleeves that have special cardboard backing. This makes the container a little more sturdy, better protecting your book.
Now then, assuming you've stored all your most valuable books in individual containers, it's time to consider how to store the rest of your collection. You'll find that there are lots of different kinds of boxes that you can buy in comic book stores or online. They come in two different sizes. The short ones will holds about 100 books, while the longer ones can hold up to 300.
But there's more to storing your comic books than just protecting them from damage. You also need to give some thought about how you want to organize them. The usual way to organize comic books is by their title, then in chronological order– specifically based on the publication date. With organized comic book storage, you'll be able to find any issue you want quickly and easily, either to read or to sell.
