Buying A Wii Console: This Is One Thing You Need To Know
If there is any one thing you really should know about buying a Wii console it is that you will probably have to spend an little extra to really get the most out of it.
The basic Nintendo Wii package ships with just about everything you need to get gaming within minutes. You get the free Wii Sports games, your console, a controller and your connection cables.
And you have to admit that all this for just $250 is excellent value for money when you pay $400 for an XBox or $500 for a PlayStation 3.
While $250 is a great price, you should be aiming for somewhere closer to the $350 or $400 mark when getting started with the Wii as you will probably want some extra accessories and equipment.
You could spend thousands of dollars on Wii accessories if you really wanted to, but there are a few that we think are essential.
Unless you plan on doing your gaming entirely on your own, you will want to invest in a second Wii controller.
Another extra you may want to consider is a battery recharger on one of the custom built Wii Charge Stations. Wii controllers require plenty of electricity and there is nothing running than having to recharge mid-game.
Finally, while you can have loads of fun with the standard Wii controller, you may also want to buy a couple of Nunchuk controllers. These plug into the standard controllers and provide the controls needed for certain games. So, you should know before you buy a Wii that you can expect to spend another $100 on accessories to really get the most from it. However, even with this it is still great value for money.
