Vent Servers Aren't Only For Gamers
No doubt when you think of Vent servers, you think of gaming applications first and foremost. There are in fact quite a few other uses for Vent servers besides these. A lot of those who use Vent servers are unaware of the many capabilities of the Vent server software. You don't need to be a gamer of any sort to take advantage of the many possibilities which are offered by Vent servers.
There are many non-traditional uses for a Vent server. One of the most important is that you can use a Vent server to save you a lot of money on phone bills and stay in touch with far away friends and family. The freeware version of the Vent server software supports as many as eight connections; these need not be connected simultaneously ? but there are eight available slots on the server.
VOIP is gaining popularity as an alternative to traditional land lines for phone service. It is less expensive than a land line (even free in some cases!) and can often provide better sound quality than can traditional phone service. Since it is freeware, unless you pay for a hosting company or require more than the eight slots offered by the freeware version (but less than the 1,000 provided by the pro version), then there is no cost.
There is a cost if you are going to rent the vent server. However, this cost is significantly less than the standard long distance plan. It can also be split among the people using the service making it even more cost effective than traditional long distance service plans. It also uses the internet, which means there is less of a chance of lags, usually better audio quality. In addition because you use a headset and microphone usually as a combination though you can use separate pieces of equipment you can talk as long as you want without the strain that comes from holding a regular phone to your ear or the heat that comes from a cell phone.
Better quality, cheaper price, a variety of options, this is what a Vent server represents not just in its traditional gaming use but also in its use as a VOIP application for a replacement to long distance service plans. You can also use a Vent server for your business. It makes a great tool for phone applications saving your company hundreds of dollars a year in phone expenses.
This is especially cost effective for those companies that are small and are looking for ways to integrate functions not only for effectiveness but also do reduce overhead expenses. A Vent server is a great way to reduce household expenses by using your already existing internet service as a way to reduce the expense of a long distance plan.
A Vent server can also be used to plan parties and other social events. They are designed form the ground up with conference calling and multiple connections in mind. If you need more than the eight slots available in the freeware version ? or more bandwidth than this version offers, then it is an easy thing to find a host for your Vent server. Even with the cost of hosting, a Vent server is still very cost effective and will save your company a bundle in the long run.
